About us

Smashing the motherhood penalty in Aotearoa.

Jobs for Mums is a social enterprise working to make flexible work the norm — not the exception you have to ask for.

Our story

It started in a living room.

Like a lot of good ideas, this one began with a problem nobody had solved: capable, experienced people stepping back from work when they had children, then finding the way back in much harder than it should be.

Not because the skills had gone anywhere. Because the hours on offer didn’t fit a family, the gap on a CV was read as a risk, and the roles that would have worked were never advertised as flexible in the first place.

Jobs for Mums exists to close that gap from both ends — helping parents find work that fits around their lives, and helping employers reach people they were otherwise going to miss.

Our purpose

Championing work that works for all — for families, for business, and for New Zealand.

Champion work-life effectiveness

Flexibility that works for the family and the employer, not one at the cost of the other.

Tackle the motherhood penalty

Close the gap that opens when a career pauses and never quite restarts.

Build a diverse and inclusive workforce

Hiring on what someone can do, not on how tidy their CV looks.

The why

The Motherhood Penalty is Real.

  • A larger % of women have degrees
  • Flexibility and awareness are critical
